🛍️ ggRock Bring Your Own Server FAQ

To ensure the best performance and support experience, we recommend centers using ggRock image management software rely on a ggCircuit-supplied and configured server.

Q: My IT team says they can build a server using spare parts.

A:

ggCircuit-supplied servers are fully tested for hardware compatibility. We cannot guarantee compatibility or stability for custom-built systems. Debian Linux 11 has specific driver requirements, and unsupported hardware may cause performance issues or system failures not evident until heavy use.

Q: I have technical experience and know someone who can build a system for me. Can you configure it?

A:

Yes, configuration services are available. Contact your account manager for pricing. The system must meet the ggRock Hardware Selection Guide requirements. Performance and compatibility are not guaranteed for third-party builds. ggCircuit does not review individual components outside of supported builds.

Q: Can I use an existing PC as the ggRock server?

A:

Possibly for testing, but all components must meet or exceed ggRock server specifications. For production use, enterprise-grade equipment is recommended.

Q: I'm trying to deploy ggRock based on your online documentation, but I'm running into issues. How do I know your server will be different?

A:

ggCircuit-provided servers are fully tested before delivery. Our support team is available for post-installation assistance. With over 300 ggRock servers installed worldwide, we stand behind the reliability and performance of our hardware.

Q: We are required to use Dell hardware due to institutional policy.

A:

Please follow the ggRock Hardware Selection Guide. ggCircuit does not review or validate individual components not purchased through ggCircuit.

Q: Can I use an old ccBoot server?

A:

No. ccBoot servers are not supported.

Q: We're outside the USA. Taxes and import costs make ggCircuit servers too expensive.

A:

ggCircuit partners with international hardware providers to offer region-appropriate pricing and availability.

Q: Will ggCircuit have access to our entire network if we buy the ggRock server?

A:

No. ggCircuit’s access is restricted to the ggRock server via a single internet-facing IP address and two TCP ports. Access is secured through VPN and 2FA. Without this access, managed services cannot be provided.
