π ggRock Licensing
This article breaks down how ggRock licensing works, what restrictions apply, and how to stay within the limits of your license.
π Basic Licensing Concepts
ggRock offers two main licensing models:
π³ Paid Subscription
A recurring monthly or annual plan that grants you:
- Access to Tier 2 support
- Direct help from our support staff and developers
- Advanced troubleshooting assistance
π Pioneer Privileges
Back when ggLeap and ggRock launched, we offered a special Pioneer program. Pioneers paid an upfront fee to get:
- Ongoing support
- A perpetual discount on all future subscriptions
Three tiers were available: Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
Note: ggLeap Pioneers are grandfathered into ggRock, but not vice versa.
π§ Licensing Restrictions
Hereβs what you need to know to stay within your ggRock license limits:
- β Per Location License: One license covers a specific number of Machines and VMs at a single location.
- You can use multiple servers (including failover) as long as the total number of Machines/VMs doesnβt exceed your licensed limit.
- π Internet Required: ggRock needs an active internet connection to run properly.
- If you lose connection, youβve got 72 hours of offline functionality.
- After 72 hours, ggRock will stop booting new Machines, though any currently running Machines will continue to operate.
- β Expired License: If your license expires, ggRock will stop functioning until it's reactivated β similar to reaching the end of the offline grace period.
