# Set Machine Hardware Name from ggRock

This article describes how the user can set the name for the Machines using ggRock and ggLeap.

**NOTE:**

*As of ggRock 0.9, it is no longer necessary to run scripts such as this one to set the computer name, as the ggRock Client takes care of this task automatically.*

You can run this script with the aforementioned tools:

$ComputerName = "New Name"
Remove-ItemProperty -path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters" -name "Hostname" Remove-ItemProperty -path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters" -name "NV Hostname"
New-PSDrive -name HKU -PSProvider "Registry" -Root "HKEY_USERS" Set-ItemProperty -path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Computername\Computername" -name "Computername" -value $ComputerName
