Setting Up Google OpenID


1. Create a New Project:

  • Go to Google Cloud Console: Google Cloud Console
  • Add Project Name and Location: Enter your project’s name and specify the location (organization or folder).
  • Click "Create": Once done, click the Create button.




  • Open the Project: After creating the project, navigate to the project.
  • Go to API & Services > OAuth Consent Screen:
    • App Name: Add a name for the application (this is what users will see during the authentication flow).
    • User Support Email: Add a valid email that users can use to contact support.
    • Developer Contact Information: Add if applicable (this is optional).
  • Save and Continue.


3. Add OAuth Scopes:

  • Add the following scopes:
    • .../auth/userinfo.email - Allows the app to see the user’s primary Google Account email address.
    • .../auth/userinfo.profile - Allows the app to access personal information that the user has made publicly available.
    • openid - Associates the user with their personal Google information.
  • Submit the Form after adding the scopes.


4. Create OAuth Credentials:

  • Go to Credentials: From the side menu, navigate to the Credentials tab.
  • Click Create Credentials > OAuth Client ID:
    • Set Application Type: Choose Web Application.
    • Add a Name: Give the OAuth client a name.
    • Authorized Redirect URIs: Enter https://sso.ggleap.com as the redirect URI.
    • Click Create.


5. Obtain the Client ID and Client Secret:

  • After creating, a modal will appear showing your Client ID and Client Secret.
  • Copy the Client ID and Client Secret for use in your application or download the JSON file for future reference.

Setting Up Google OpenID Connect in ggLeap Webadmim

Configure ggLeap Webadmin:

  • Client ID: Paste the Client ID obtained from Google Cloud Console into the Client ID field in ggLeap Webadmin OpenID settings.
  • Connect Issuer: Paste the issuer value ("https://accounts.google.com") from the metadata document into the Connect Issuer field in ggLeap Webadmin.
  • Client Secret: Paste the Client Secret that you generated in the Google Cloud Console into the Client Secret field in ggLeap Webadmin.

Save Configuration:

  • Save the OpenID Connect settings in ggLeap Webadmin to complete the integration.
