How to Charge Different Hourly Rates by Zone (General, VIP, Streaming Rooms)

Overview
Many centers do not have one single price. A general floor, a semi-private room with higher-spec PCs, and private streaming booths are worth different amounts per hour, and customers need to understand that difference before they sit down.
ggLeap supports this today. There are two ways to do it, and the right choice depends on whether you want one balance that drains faster in premium zones, or separate products with a clear price per zone.
The example used throughout this article is a center with three areas:
PC group | Machines | Target price |
|---|---|---|
General Floor | 40 | $6 / hour |
Semi-Private Room | 20 | $9 / hour |
Streaming Rooms | 4 | $15 / hour |
Prerequisites
- PC groups configured. See How to Create and Configure PC Groups.
- At least one GamePass created. See ggLeap GamePasses.
- Currency and payment methods updated in Financial Configuration.
Instructions
Group Your PCs by Zone
- Go to Settings -> Groups Config -> PC/Console Groups.
- Click the "+ Add group" button to open the Add PC group modal.
- Enter the PC group name and set the Consumption rate.
- Click "Add" to complete adding the PC group.

Repeat for each physical area. Assign each PC to its group. A PC can only belong to one group at a time.
How Consumption Rate Works
This is the part that trips most operators up, so it is worth being precise.
The Consumption Rate on a PC group is a percentage that controls how fast a GamePass is consumed on those machines. It does not change the price of anything.
For example, at 200% a 1-hour GamePass is fully consumed in 30 minutes of play.
Because the customer paid a fixed amount for that time, consuming it twice as fast means each real hour effectively costs twice as much. That is how a time multiplier becomes a price difference.
To work out the rate you need for a zone:
Consumption rate = (target price for the zone / base price of the GamePass) x 100
Option A: One GamePass, Different Consumption Rates
Use this when you want customers to buy time once and move freely around the center.
- Create a GamePass priced at your cheapest zone. For this example, a 10 Hours pass for $60, which is $6/hour and matches the General Floor.
- Right-click each PC group tab above the PC list and click "Edit" to open the Edit group modal.
- Set the Consumption Rate for that group, then click "Add" to save.

Using the example center, the rates work out as follows:
PC group | Calculation | Consumption Rate | Hours a $60 / 10h pass buys | Effective price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
General Floor | 6 / 6 | 100% | 10 h 00 m | $6 / hour |
Semi-Private Room | 9 / 6 | 150% | 6 h 40 m | $9 / hour |
Streaming Rooms | 15 / 6 | 250% | 4 h 00 m | $15 / hour |
The client recalculates the remaining balance and the estimated time to log out using the consumption rate of the machine the customer is currently sitting at. A customer with 10 hours of credit who logs into a Streaming Room will see 4 hours remaining, not 10.
Advantages: one product to sell, one balance to explain, and the customer can move between areas.
Drawbacks: the price difference is implicit. The customer sees their balance shrink faster rather than seeing a price tag.
Tip on how to present it. Rather than telling customers that the VIP room consumes their time faster, price the base pass at your premium zone and let the cheaper zones stretch further. For example: "Your Streaming Room pass also works on the general floor, and because the floor PCs are standard spec, the same pass lasts you two and a half times longer there." The arithmetic is identical, but the customer feels rewarded rather than penalised.
Option B: A Separate GamePass Per Zone
Use this when you want customers to see an explicit price for each zone. This is the more transparent option and the one we usually recommend for centers with clearly separated areas.
- Go to Settings -> Shop Settings -> Shop Configuration.
- Create one GamePass per zone, priced directly.
- Leave the Consumption Rate at 100% on every PC group. The price is already in the product, so you do not want to multiply it a second time.
GamePass | Price | Duration |
|---|---|---|
General Floor - 10 Hours | $60 | 10 hours |
Semi-Private Room - 10 Hours | $90 | 10 hours |
Streaming Room - 10 Hours | $150 | 10 hours |
The GamePass options are set when you create or edit the pass:

- In the GamePass restriction options, set Eligible device groups so each pass can only be used on the machines it was sold for.
- Optionally set Eligible User groups to restrict who can buy it. This is useful if streaming booths are members-only, or if you want a student rate.

Advantages: the customer reads a price list and understands it immediately. No mental arithmetic.
Drawbacks: more products to maintain, and credit is not portable between zones.
Which Option Should I Choose?
If you want | Use |
|---|---|
A single balance the customer can spend anywhere | Option A |
A clear price per zone, with no explanation needed | Option B |
Members to pay one rate and walk-ins another | Option B, with Eligible User groups |
To reward premium buyers with more time on cheaper PCs | Option A, priced at the premium zone |
You can also combine them: sell zone-specific passes for the premium rooms as in Option B, while keeping one general-floor pass with a consumption rate for everything else.
Troubleshooting
The consumption rate field is not visible on my PC group. Some rate and discount controls only appear once the corresponding feature is enabled in Groups Config. If a field described here is missing, contact support and we will confirm what is enabled on your account.
Time is draining faster than expected. Check whether a consumption rate above 100% is set on the PC group and the customer is on a premium-priced GamePass. If you priced the pass for the zone as in Option B and also raised the consumption rate, you are charging the premium twice. Use one approach per zone.
A customer used a cheap pass in the VIP room. The pass had no Eligible device groups restriction. Edit the GamePass and restrict it to the correct PC groups.
