๐๏ธ How to Auto-Award an Expiring GamePass to a User Group
This article explains how to create a GamePass that expires after a set period (a day, a week, etc.) and configure ggLeap to award it automatically to every member of a user group. The most common use case is granting all users a recurring allotment of free game time โ for example, one free hour every day โ by auto-awarding the pass to the General Users group, which every user belongs to by default.
Why Use an Expiring Auto-Awarded GamePass?
Pairing these two features lets your center hand out recurring time without any staff involvement:
- Auto-award delivers the GamePass to every member of the selected user group on a set cadence โ no manual granting, no coupon codes.
- Expiration ensures the awarded time is "use it or lose it." Without an expiration, each award stacks on top of the last, and users can bank unlimited free time.
Prerequisites
- Pertinent details (currency, accepted payment methods, etc.) must be updated in Financial Configuration.
- Identify the user group that should receive the pass. General Users is the typical choice because every user is a member of this group by default. If you want to target a subset of users instead (e.g., a paid membership tier), create that group first โ see How to Create and Configure User Groups.
- Web admin access to admin.ggleap.com with permission to edit Shop Configuration and Groups config.
Step 1: Create the GamePass
GamePasses are added just like food and beverage items and prizes.
- Go to Settings โ Shop Settings โ Shop Configuration.
- Click the button to add a new item and select the GamePass item type.

- Fill out the GamePass details:
- Name โ The only mandatory field. Use something descriptive that will make sense to users when it appears on their account, e.g.,
Free Daily HourorWeekly Bonus Time. - Time โ The amount of game time the pass grants (e.g., 60 minutes).
- Price โ For a pass that is only ever awarded (never purchased), set the price to 0.
Step 2: Set the GamePass Expiration
Still within the GamePass options, configure the expiration so the awarded time is only usable for a limited window:
- For a daily award, set the pass to expire 1 day after it is awarded.
- For a weekly award, set the pass to expire 7 days after it is awarded.
- Save the GamePass by clicking Add.

Step 3: Auto-Award the GamePass to a User Group
- Go to Settings โ Groups config โ User groups.

- Locate the group that should receive the pass โ typically General Users โ and open it for editing. (To award to a brand-new group instead, click + Add user group in the upper right and configure it first.)

- Under the "ADVANCED SETTINGS" subheading, enable Award a Gamepass automatically. This lets you select any pre-configured GamePass to be applied at a set cadence.
- Select the GamePass you created in Step 1 and choose the cadence (e.g., Daily for the Free Daily Hour example). The cadence should match the expiration you configured in Step 2.
- Click Add (or save your changes to the existing group) to finish.

Verifying the Configuration
- Open a test user's account in the web admin and confirm the GamePass appears after the next award cycle.
- Confirm the granted time is usable on a client PC.
- After the expiration window passes, confirm the unused time is removed and a fresh pass is awarded on the next cycle.
